Punjabo

A Poem by GURMEET KAUR

When she sings

Five rivers flow

She is the song

The song of yearning

The song of merging.

When she speaks

Wisdom streams

She is the story

The story of time

The story of space

When she gazes

Reflection springs

She is the thought

The thought of roots

The thought of fruits

When she saddens

Silence imbues

She is the saga

The saga of betrayal

The saga of dishonor.

When she is incensed

Storms blow

She is the goddess

The goddess of defiance

The goddess of resistance.

When she decorates/adorns herself, prophets/Gurus come to live with her.
