It is An Assault on India Itself:

The BBC reports a new scheme launched in India.

I worry it will cause a lot of distress amongst my fellow Indians, especially those living in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Himachal, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and similar states which have fervently clung on to our cherished traditions from pre-vedic times.

I'll let the BBC report speak for itself.

The scheme was launched on Monday in 34 villages in Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan, India.

Four to five people will "shout, beat drums or blow a whistle" if they see anyone urinating or defecating in the open, an official told the BBC.

Repeat offenders may even be asked to pay a fine, he said.

Nearly half of India's 1.2 billion people have no toilet at home and they defecate in the open.

Correspondents say spitting, urinating and defecating in public are a common sight across India, and in rural areas many people continue to go out in the open even when they have toilets at home because they prefer the outdoors.

Officials confirm that hundreds of millions of Indians defecate in the open.

Those with no access to toilets have to go to farms and fields and women have to go before dawn or after dark in order to preserve their modesty.

Defecating in the open is also blamed for the spread of a number of diseases such as tapeworm.

I thought the right to defecate and urinate in public was protected by our Constitution.

If only the fathers of our beloved nation had succeeded in 1947 to declare the original proposal for our new national flag, instead of having given in and chosen the current, drab, meaningless tricolour.

If the one with the image of a man defecating in its centre - instead of the chakra - had gone through, we wouldn't have had to deal with the kind of nonsense going on in Jhunjhunu today.

We had been warned! I have been to Chandigarh and to Punjab and seen how they ape western ways by having bathrooms inside their homes, and how they waste so much good water through those unearthly ceramic contraptions.

Now, it's happening, exactly as predicted. There are people now in the rest of India who are wanting to ape the Punjabis.

Well, Gandhiji had warned us to be wary of "modernization" ... and we didn't listen to him.

Such filty habit of Indians which they carry to even far away Singapore as a strong stench of urine at hawker centres exposes the immorality of well dressed Indian expatriates who were happily chatting away nearby. Can you imagine them eating without even washing hands, and pants all splattered with their urine?

Not very difficult to imagine the tri-Color with the "man defecating in its centre - instead of the chakra" ... Laloo Prasad comes to mind immediately.
