Great. Very interesting. Sikhs made sacrifices and contribution in all respects during the Indian Independence movement - much more than all other Indians put together, though Sikhs comprise only two percent of the total population. According to the statistical records: i) Out of 121 persons put to death by the British, 93 were Sikhs. ii) Out of 2644 persons deported to exile for life, 2147 were Sikhs. iii) Out of 1300 persons killed in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre by the British, 799 were Sikhs. iv) Out of the 42,000 persons who enlisted in the Indian National Army (INA) which marched against the British from South East Asia, 21000 were Sikhs. v) Of the Komagata Maru passengers murdered by British troops in Budge Budge, near Calcutta, all of the 22 were Sikhs. The Sikhs have made unprecedented sacrifices within living memory.
