INNI KAUR

Today’s Hukam, Darbar Sahib, Amritsar – Monday, March 2, 2015

Those whose minds are filled with love of the Divine, they are blessed with peace. Their pains are forgotten and they are protected. || 1 ||

The Guru comes to meet those whose destiny is pre-ordained. Blessed with the teachings they walk in the Will of the True Guru. Their wanderings have ceased. No longer do they beg. || 2 ||

They live in the Presence of the Divine. So why should they bow before anyone else. The Gate-Keeper will not question them. And the ones who are graced, their words will emancipate others as well. || 3 ||

The Divine sends out, and recalls the mortal beings. The Divine is Omnipotent and all-knowing. O Nanak, Naam is the blessing, given to those who are graced. || 4 || 3 || 5 ||

[Guru Nanak, Raag Suhi, GGS:729]

Emotions in turmoil

Feeling very raw

As I sit to listen to today’s hukam.

Shabad enters.

I breathe.

Guru, You are my source, You are my strength.

I hear: “Drench yourself in love.”

I question: “How do I do that?”

“Let go of lust, anger, greed, attachment and ego. Nurture the seed of divine love that is within you. Dyed in the color of love you will experience eternal peace. Be graced.”

I negotiate: “What if it is not in my destiny to be graced?”

“The One does not discriminate. The seed of divine love is in all. Follow the teachings and you will be blessed with amrit (the nectar of immortality). Your wanderings are over. Stop begging.”

Eyes mist.

Guru, you know me too well. For years I drifted. With great difficulty I came to this path. You held my hand. My wanderings ceased. I am home. Gurbani nurtures me.

Yet … I struggle to be true to the teachings. For this path is finer than a hair and sharper than a sword‘s edge. The gift of amrit is Yours to give.

I wait …
