The 1984 Project

EDITOR

A Register is being compiled listing:

A   The perpetrators of crimes against innocent Sikhs during the anti-Sikh pogroms in India in November 1984.

This list is to include ALL perpetrators - including members of the government(s), political parties,. Community organizations, police, military, bureaucracy, judiciary, media, community and religious organizations or any other individuals or groups who in any manner participated in either the crimes themselves or in the cover-up thereafter.

Those involved from the very top, all the way down to the front-line perpetrators, are to be listed.

Crimes of omission and commision - actual acts of crime or failure to act when their positions required them to prevent the crimes - are equally reprehensible, and their pepetrators should be listed without distinction.

Details, such as names, gender, approximate age, locations, positions held by them then and now, currently alive or dead - and a description, if possible, of the nature of their crimes, would be most helpful.

We recognize that sometimes no more than their names, for example, will be available. Please send us whatever information you have, no matter how little.

B   All victims of those crimes - men, women and children, killed during the pogroms.

Again, please provide us with any details you may have which may include only one or more of the following: name, gender, approximate age, location of death, position held by the victim at time of death (or what they did, etc.), brief description of the events resulting in death, who were the perpetrators (specific names or general description - "mob", e.g.) ...

You can help.

And, we need your help.

PLEASE E-MAIL ...

Any list of the 1984 criminals will have to begin with Rajiv Gandhi himself, closely followed by Sajjan Kumar, Lalit Maken, Jagdish Tytler, Shyam Tyagi, H.K.L. Bhagat, Boop Tyagi, Balwan Khokhar, Pandit Harkesh, Shankar Lal Sharma, Brahmanand Gupta, Kamal Nath ... these are but a few of the ring leaders behind the massacres.

I was in South Delhi those days. I used to stop every morning on way to work at a road-side tea stall to pick-up my morning cup of chaa, and never failed to exchange a few pleasantries with its owner, a young, jovial Sardar - Jeeta! (Roughly, in his late 20s, I would say). He had opinions on everything - his quips would habitually send me off with a smile. I stopped, as always, on the morning of Oct. 31 ... but never saw Jeet Singh again. Heard later that he had been caught in his home a few blocks away, dragged out by a mob, and simply beaten to death ... and then set afire. A good man ... an innocent man! This may be the first time he will be memorialized!

A book "Sarkari Qatl-e-Aam" (Government Organized Carnage) was published recently. The author of the book is S. Gurcharan Singh Babbar. Indian Government and Delhi Government have filed a petition with the Supreme Court of India to ban the further publication and distribution of this book. That book can be very helpful in compilation of such a project. According to the author, the number of criminals is many more than often mentioned. It involves high ranking officers of Delhi Police. And the attitude of silence by the High Court and Supreme Court justices in this particular matter should also put them in this category. Its English version/ translation is posted at the link given below. However, such publications also tend to disappear (be removed) from the internet all of a sudden. So perhaps you should download it for your records as soon as possible. The book is posted @ http://b.domaindlx.com/Malang/CARNAGE_OF_SIKHS.pdf

P.V. Narasimha Rao was the biggest rascal of them all and was responsible for the unabated killings of innocent Sikhs following Indro's death. He was rewarded by Congress with India's Prime-Ministership after a "big tree" fell on Rajiv Gandhi in 1991 and sent him packing to the big forest in the sky.

6: Gurteg Singh (New York, U.S.A.), August 26, 2010, 12:59 AM.

Arun Nehru was the main man responsible for organizing the mass killing of Sikhs in New Delhi. He was sitting in the Prime Minister's house and was in charge of the killings, burnings, rape, loot and plunder. The Home Ministry was disabled and all powers were usurped by him. Sikh police officers were disarmed and sent home. In fact, large number of policemen and para military personnel in plain clothes were directly involved in leading mobs. Later, he was made Minister of Internal security by Rajiv Gandhi and directed large scale operations in eliminating tens of thousands of innocent Sikhs in Punjab villages. It is a shame and disgrace that all these so-called human rights organizations and Sikhs fighting for justice have not named him as the top criminal responsible for the genocide of Sikhs. It is like telling the story of Nazi atrocities against Jews but missing the name of Hitler.

I would like it to be noted that the Indian media, and in particular, Doordarshan were instrumental in spreading hate and inciting violence with statements like 'Khoon Ka Badla Khoon'. I don't know the name of the editor or the journalist who wrote those statements but I believe that should be easy to verify and record. Journalists need to be held accountable for any statements made which incite communal violence and murder ... there is a limit on 'freedom of speech' and this is where the line must be drawn.

8: Baldev Singh (Chino Hills, California, U.S.A.. ), September 16, 2010, 12:31 AM.

It would be helpful to the community to know more about these filthy criminals like Arun Nehru, Jagdish Tytler, etc. For example Kamal Nath, when he visited the U.S. recently, was given a fitting 'welcome' by the Sikhs living abroad. Similar treatment should be given to all these bastards.
